The Sui Foundation has announced its neutrality in an upcoming community vote concerning the recovery of $162 million in frozen assets from the Cetus protocol hack. The blockchain network is gearing up for an on-chain governance decision to determine whether to implement a protocol upgrade that WOULD return the locked funds without modifying transaction history or rolling back the chain.
Validators on the sui network acted quickly to freeze stolen assets following the breach, with over one-third by stake weight blocking transactions from suspicious addresses. Cetus has formally requested community approval for the upgrade, highlighting a solution that maintains blockchain integrity while recovering user funds.
